Term 4 Professional Practice Day

Thursday 24th November will be the term 4 PP Day for all staff to minimise disruption again. Students will work from home and access work remotely from google classroom on this day.

 Parent Education Sessions

As part of GEC's commitment to supporting our students through their learning, we recognise the important role that families can play to ensure that support continues at home.

We have one further opportunity this semester on 17 November: Tackling Tricky Conversations

Registration details will be sent soon.  Once you register (with an email address and name), you will be emailed a link to the webinar. You will also receive a reminder email on the day of the webinar as well as 15min before start time. The following day, you will receive a link to access the replay. It is recommended that even if you are unable to attend the live webinar, you register to ensure you can access the replay.

Transition

We will commence our 2023 timetable on Monday 28th November. Students going into Years 11 and 12 in 2023 will have one week of transition classes. They will receive documents relating to each subject and the expectations and also preparation that should be completed prior to returning next year.

Students going into Years 8 – 10 in 2023 will have just over two weeks of transition classes concluding on 13th December.

Finally

This year, World Teachers’ Day is on Friday 28 October. It is an opportunity to say thank you for the incredible contributions teachers make to our community.

You can get involved by sending a message of thanks to a teacher who is making, or has made, an impact on your life using #thanksvicteachers on social media. Don’t forget to tag the Department of Education and Training (the department) so we can see all your messages.

See the World Teachers Day webpage for resources to help you celebrate World Teachers’ Day 2022, including ‘Thank You’ card templates.

New Mural

Each year, our college captains dedicate Term 3 to creating a legacy project – something that will outlast their time at the school.  Over the holidays this has come to fruition as our four college captains created a mural over the stairs adjacent the student entrance.  Glen the Gecko makes a very colourful addition to the school.

2023 School for Student Leadership

I am pleased to advise that six positions (three boys, three girls) have been secured at the School for Student eadership for Term 1 2023 at the Don Road Campus.

The School for Student Leadership is a Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) initiative offering a unique residential education experience for year nine students. The School for Student Leadership offers a fully residential program for one school term with accommodation for up to 45 students in a purpose-built facility.
