Reflection

Reconciliation

In the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church it states:

"In the sacrament of reconciliation, the Christian faithful obtain from the mercy of God pardon for their sins. At the same time, they are reconciled with the Church, which they have wounded by their sins and which works for their conversion by charity, example, and prayer (Lumen Gentium, n. 11)."

While the language used in this Vatican II document, written in 1964 may not necessarily be all that approachable to our children, and perhaps some adults, the work we do in Religious Education is.  In our learning, we lead children to an understanding of the importance of taking steps to repair our relationship with God and with each other, when they are damaged. Through reconciliation we strengthen our community and recognise the innate dignity that each of us have.

We wish Matilda, James, Clara and Lexi from Year 3/4 well for their First Reconciliation which they will be making at 7.00pm on Tuesday, October 25 at St Mary's Church, Mt Evelyn.
