Year 7 Humanities

Ancient Civilisations Portrait Prize

“The object of education is to teach us to love what is beautiful”

~ Plato, ancient Greek philosopher

As part of our journey into the ancient world, the Year 7 Humanities students recently participated in a competition to recreate an image from an ancient society. We were entertained with a wonderful variety of creative and clever portraits. In many cases, the portrait was a family effort, with family members (including pets!) posing for photographs, assisting with prop and costume design, or working to capture the perfect shot with the camera. Congratulations to all students for their impressive effort, and to the following students who were selected as category winners by their peers:

Category 1: Best costume/ prop recreation

Winners: Janella T and Jennifer H

Category 2: Most realistic recreation

Winners: Mia D, Athikroth K (Pisey)

Category 3: Most ‘fun’ recreation

Winners: Brianne M, Vanessa N

Category 4: Best ‘wow’ factor photo

Winners: Cheryl B, Pooja P, Beata O
