Wellbeing

We are very excited to see some events return to our students' schooling experience this term.

Year 9 and 10 K-amp Days

The Year 9 and 10 Camps were cancelled in Term 3 due to the extended lockdown. In order to try to give the students a “camp type” experience at school, fun activity days have been planned. The Year 10 K-amp day is scheduled for Friday November 12 and the Year 9 K-amp day is scheduled for Tuesday November 16. There are a variety of exciting activities planned and there will be photos from both days in our next newsletter.  We know that this will be a great day full of fun experiences for our students.

Year 12 Graduation

Our Year 12 VCE students are continuing through their Exam period with the final exams at Killester on Wednesday November 17.

We are very fortunate and happy for our Year 12 students to be able to have a Graduation Ceremony at school on Thursday November 18. Their Final Day at Killester will begin with a Liturgy followed by the official Graduation Ceremony between Recess and Lunchtime. Individual lunch boxes will be provided for the Year 12 students and Staff.

The Year 12 Awards and Farewell Assembly will take place after lunch and this event will be live streamed into Year 7 - 11 Homerooms for the school community to acknowledge and celebrate the Graduating Year 12 Class of 2021. There will be more to come in the next Newsletter with photos of the Year 12 Class of 2021.

2022 Student Leaders

Students have been through the process of nominating themselves for the 2022 student leadership positions and we congratulate all students who have put themselves forward. Students will be voting on Friday 19th November and the 2022 student leaders will be announced before the end of the school year. Good luck to everyone

Year 8 Parents

Please notethere is still an opportunity for your daughter to take part in the Future Proofing survey/ study this Term.

We’re thrilled to announce that Killester College is taking part in Australia’s largest ever wellbeing study for high school students – the ‘Future Proofing Study’. We’ll be working with the Black Dog Institute and UNSW, along with 170 other Australian schools, to improve the mental health and wellbeing of Australian teenagers.

Despite delays due to COVID, starting on Monday 19th November participating students will try out new mental health apps and complete surveys about their health and wellbeing at school until they are in Year 12. The surveys will ask about a wide range of issues important to young people, including health, emotions, friendships, school, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are inviting all Year 8 students to participate in this important initiative. Students will need parent permission and a smartphone to participate. To read about the study and record your decision, please visit: https://www.fpstudy.org.au/Killester

We hope you share in our commitment to this project and improving the mental health outcomes for Australian young people through quality research.
