Year 11 Fashion Students Spring into Action Year 11 fashion students finally got to showcase their designs in a quick photoshoot. In lockdown the Year 11 students mostly worked on their folios and patternmaking, however were unable to start the dresses that were planned. So we resorted to making corsets to go with the skirts. This was a huge challenge, nevertheless. The students cut and constructed the corsets during online learning and then finished them when we were back on site. The skirts and corsets were inspired by the quirky back to the future theme which is, strangely enough, called ‘retro/futuristic’. The students were to modify a straight skirt pattern by adding frills or flounces. Considering the difficulties faced the fashion students were able to come up with some creative design solutions.
