Trinity College Student Computer Program 2022

New Devices for Years 7 and 10

Trinity College’s Student Computer Program for 2022 integrates the use of computers and Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) across the school. We aim to develop digital literacy, fluency and citizenship in our students, while preparing them for the high-tech world in which they will live, learn and work.

In this program, Trinity College will purchase and own computers for students to use, with parents/carers being charged an annual ICT Levy in their Fee Accounts ($350.00 in 2022).

The aim of this program is to establish a uniformity of learning platforms across the school to support improved learning outcomes and reduce the financial burden on families. There are several benefits for families from the College owning the fleet of computers:

  • removing the need for families to make a large one-off upfront payment, instead having an ongoing annual ICT Levy
  • minimising computer down time by providing students with another computer from the fleet if an issue arises
  • students will be unable to install programs on College computers, ensuring the computers remain a learning-focused tool for both school and home.

The computer program at Trinity College operates on a three-year cycle, with the school purchasing a new computer for Year 7 and Year 10 students.

We are pleased to inform you that the computer selected for Year 7 and Year 10 students in 2022 is the Microsoft Surface Laptop. This selection has been made by our ICT Committee, which is responsible for the planning and management of information technology equipment throughout the school.

This computer has been chosen due to its significant advantages in battery life and processing capability. An optional stylus will be available for families to purchase from the College at a cost of $29.

The computer and all accessories remain the property of Trinity College throughout the three-year cycle. At the completion of the three-year cycle or upon leaving the College, the computer and all accessories must be returned in good working order. Damage requiring repair or intentional graffiti to computers will incur an excess charge of $100 per incident.

Year 7 computers will be available for collection on the first day of Term 1, 2022. Year 10 students can collect computers on January 31st from the St Joseph’s Resource Centre at Trinity College.

Students studying a VCE subject may organise to collect the College computer earlier if required. Please contact the ICT department via email it.admin@tcc.vic.edu.au should you wish to arrange this.
