2021 Olympic Change-Maker Awards

Congratulations to Audrey Oastler (11.13) and Tiana Witnish (11.13) who are the 2021 Oxley nominees and recipients of the Australian Olympic Change-Maker Award for 2021.

The Australian Olympic Committee expressed their appreciation towards Oxley Christian College for participating in the program during another exceptionally challenging year.

“The Tokyo Olympic Games reaffirmed what we can achieve when we all work together, celebrating the values of excellence, friendship and respect with an aim to build a better world through Sport. At the same time, Australia’s young and emerging leaders found a way to make a difference in their respective communities by demonstrating the Olympic spirit in myriad of ways,” Mr James Edwards, Head of Community Engagement and Olympic Services.

The 2022 Australian Olympic Change-Maker program will launch in the first semester of next year, where more students will be recognised for their outstanding efforts.

Last hurrah for Year 12s in Running Group

A group of eight Year 12s requested a last session of Running Group, just before they finally finished. Tahlia Merritt (12.8), Saskia Hupertz (12.8), Emily Pocock (12.7), Daniel Townley (12.7), Angus Hubbard (12.10), Zac Jarrott (12.7), Blake Giltinan (12.7) and Ryan Brookes (12.8) endured one last session of fitness with some very positive feedback on how their attendance helped them improve their overall fitness. Some members of this group almost never missed a Thursday afternoon Running Group session. Their commitment and attendance will be sorely missed, and we wish them all the best for their future participation in sport outside of Oxley.

No EISM competition in Term 4

It is great to see our students back at school and although we will not have official competition for the remainder of the year, we will still welcome our students back to the Stadium on their Sport afternoons.

Year 10s will only have two weeks left of Sport and they will also come back to participate in the Year 12 Final Day Competition, but only as a year level during Period 4 and lunch on Thursday 18 November. The Year 11s will also return on this day to compete during Periods 5 and 6, before the very important final basketball game where the Year 12s face off against the Year 11s.

Year 7 to 11 will also have the opportunity to contribute to the Year 12 Final Day Competition by participating in their year levels on different days. The year level scores will be added to the Year 12 Final Day Competition that we had with the Year 12s, to determine the winning House for 2021. The Year 7s will have their Year 12 Final Day Competition on Monday 15 November during Sport Periods 5 and 6 and Years 8 and 9 on Tuesday 16 November during Periods 5 and 6, which is not their usual Sport Day. Students will be reminded through Student Notices and Home Groups before their competition days.

We are looking forward to ending the year with some activity. I’m sure the students can’t wait to get involved in some House rivalry and to have the opportunity to catch up with their friends during the competition.
