P to the E with Leigh

The focus for the end of this term is Fitness! We have had Beep tests for the older grades and running and relay games for the younger children. The children have been continuing to work with Keith Howden (basketball/athletics coach)  at lunch times with some games planned towards the end of the year for the children involved in the training. Students who are wanting to learn new skills are welcome to attend and participate. The games are on at lunch time on Tuesdays from 1.45. Come and see me. I can introduce you to Keith.

Planning has already started for next year with a big effort being participation. The district events will of course start for the grade 5/6 students with Inter School Sport being organised for first term and fourth term. Cross country will be in second term for grades 3 to 6 and athletics will be run in third term for grades 3 to 6.

The swimming program planning has also started for next year and kicks off in February with the District swimming carnival. The Foundation to 2s will have a program planned with dates being organised and the grade 3/4 students will also have a time scheduled for next year.

Finally the importance of being an active community and the connection to the school sports program is something that I encourage all parents to get involved in. I would love to talk to parents who have particular skills that they would like to share with all the children or simply with their own child’s grade.
