Year 3/4–Celebrating Learning

Mainstream

We have focused on using quotation marks to show speech in narrative writing. Students wrote and illustrated comics that used lots of conversation, and then converted these into written stories. We have also been following the Writers’ Workshop and have spent time improving our planning of narratives using templates to help ensure that we are following the structure of a narrative and that it remains engaging from beginning to end.

3S has been busy learning about Fractions. Through lessons the children constructed fraction walls and created large images made out of fractions on a colourful crayon backdrop. In Main Lesson the students finished up Noah’s Ark with some incredible paintings and illustrations!

Recently, 4S was deeply engaged in a shared group activity to show their knowledge of fractions of circles. Many hands made light work as students drew, traced, cut, folded and pasted their creations into life. Colourful crayon backdrops were drawn on large A1 sheets of paper and the dragon, sea animals and sea monsters were assembled and pasted on. They achieved amazing results. Well done 4S!!!
