Gardening

This term in the garden, the flowers have gone berserk. Our Indigenous garden is full of chocolate and vanilla lilies, fairy mist bluebells, murrnongs and cut leaf daisies. It's truly a beautiful site. And with flowers, come insects.

Our garden pollinators have been out in force and we have done some insect observing to get to know who uses our garden. Our vegetable garden has transitioned to a summer garden with tomatoes, zucchinis and cucumbers, with also alot of calendula flowering.

Our garden fence has been planted out with passionfruit's, choko's, kiwi fruits, clematis and wonga vines. It's going to be a jungle next year. The students are beginning to get their hands back in the dirt, discovering our garden as a teacher.

Farewell Aviva

We are saddened to announce that Aviva will not continue as the Educator for our Garden Program in 2022.  Aviva is going to continue with her studies and her PhD.   We would like to say Ngoon godin to Aviva for everything she has done for Thornbury Primary school including learning with our students, maintaining our gardens, linking with community, educating our staff, creating projects with local council and community groups and keeping the builder in check!  There are no words to say how much we will miss her.

Expression of Interest: Gardening Program 2022

We have an opportunity to open our garden educator role up for an Expression of Interest for 2022.  There has been much interest in this opportunity and if you or some one you know may have the skills and passion to come and learn with us please contact the front office for a copy of the EOI which will be due to Megan Friday 10th December.
