This term, Castle students learnt and revised French names for parts of the body (le corps). They played games, sang songs, participated in different activities and demonstrated their learning in a variety of ways. They then revised French numbers up to 20 using a fun song, Buzz and Bingo. Students will now be learning about ‘Noël’ (French Christmas) and compare French traditions with their own.
In Stillwell and Mrs Jolley’s class, students revised prepositions (les prépositions). They each made a ‘petite souris’ (a little mouse) and used it to play a variety of games and activities. Students then used their mice to create presentations showing each preposition. Now students will discuss ‘Noël’, learn key words and compare French Christmas to their own celebrations at home.
This term in Mr Cronin and Kas’ classes, the French and Arts lessons were combined for a joint project based around the French stop-go motion ‘Soupe Opéra’. Students have been using their translating skills, sentence writing and speaking in French. As with the other year levels, students will finish their year comparing ‘Noël’ to their own celebrations and make a card for a loved one.
I wish all of our year 6 and 7 students “bonne chance” for their time in high school and would like to thank them for all of the wonderful years shared in the French classroom. I hope that they continue to use their courage and persistence in any future language learning and perhaps that some may even visit France one day.
To the rest of our families, I wish you un joyeux noël et une bonne année and I’ll see you next year.
Merci!
Madame Mawson
