Week 6 Character Strength Awards

Our Character Strength focus for last week was kindness. All throughout the week, it was very heartwarming to see many acts of kindness undertaken and we were very proud to recognise the following students for their contribution to making our school a happy and welcoming place to learn:

Cooper Marheine: Showing kindness and leadership by stepping up to assist a member of the school staff.

Mackayla Trembath: Genuine willingness to help others, ensuring they are happy and cared for.

Troy Balint: Looking out for his friends and including them in games.

Olive Dillon: Thinking outwards and offering to assist staff members.

Reuben Shaw: Demonstrating kindness by helping others in need.

Charlie Marheine: Demonstratig kindness by helping others in need.

 Week 7 Character Strength Focus

This week our focus is Perseverance

At St. Joseph's School, we can show perseverance by:

  • Not giving up on a difficult task.
  • Using the power of 'YET' and positive self talk; 'I am not good at this... yet', 'I haven't mastered this... yet', 'This is difficult but I will keep trying'.
  • Breaking a big task down into smaller, more manageable tasks and aim to complete one step at a time.
  • Understanding that mistakes are helpful for brain growth and development and that if we are not struggling, we are not learning.

By building our character strengths, we can all work together to say:

People have a better day because I am here as part of the school team!

Each week, we will display our focus for all students to see on our new Living Well, Learning Well display. We look forward to watching our students display perseverance in all they do this week and encourage families to discuss this week's character strength at home.
