Foundation Spotlight

Online Learning

With the start of term four, it was fantastic that the end of lockdown was already in sight. Our weekly themes included Geography, detectives, inventions and Halloween. We even got to look for and discover Paul – who we realised was missing at the start of the term – during our Where is Paul? series.

Welcome Back Foundation

Foundation students were so excited to return to school a few weeks ago. As the first children to return, it was certainly a very strange experience to have the entire school grounds to ourselves!

Our return was overwhelmingly positive as Foundation students returned with energy and focus, relishing the opportunities to reconnect with their peers. It didn’t take long to pick up from where we left off, with children exceeding our expectations and quickly settling into old routines and new (e.g., mask wearing).

Exploration and Halloween

Exploration is always a fundamental part of our program and it has aided our transition back to school, as children have had the opportunity to explore their interests with friends.

One recent interest has been in Halloween. During this spooky time of the year, children have enjoyed making decorations, Halloween artwork and even preparing a creepy ‘Halloween party’ or two.

Narratives

We have chosen to focus on narrative writing this term. Inspired by Halloween, we have chosen to write spooky stories. We have begun to draft the stories by thinking about how narratives always have clear beginnings, middles with problems and endings with solutions. We look forward to sharing our amazing spooky stories at the end of the year!
