RENEWED SOUTHERN GATEWAY TO NILLUMBIK

Vicki Ward has been active and enthusiastic about the renewal initiative, and is inviting residents and organisations to complete a survey to gather community ideas.

Please take the time to complete this survey  via the following link:

 https://www.vickiward.com.au/gateway-survey

by no later than 5pm on Wednesday 15 December 2021

This is a great way of gathering specific feedback that can be used to assist in concept planning. Strong community interest and participation in the survey will strengthen the case for State government funding of the gateway renewal.

If you would rather send an email to the Southern Gateway Renewal Group, please write to: southgateway.renewal@gmail.com

The Southern Gateway Renewal Group has been working on ideas to restore the gateway area with landscaping and planting, paths, seating and art work. We've met with Vicki Ward, MP for Eltham, Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV), Melbourne Water, Parks Victoria, and Nillumbik Shire Council to put forward some concept plans. Now we are seeking community feedback and ideas. The map below shows the target areas for renewal as areas A, B and C. These sites are on either side of Main Road and south west of the road bridge over the Diamond Creek. You can find more details and some background information on the following website:

Our objectives are that the renewed gateway will:

· Create a sense of arrival' at Eltham and the Green Wedge Shire of Nillumbik, and encourage slower, safer speeds within Eltham

· Reclaim and revegetate the underutilised roadside land areas for public open space

· Acknowledge the original owners of the land

· Express the character and history of the area.

Your ideas, involvement and skills are important and we'd welcome your input.
