From the Principal

Dear Families,

Year 6 Graduation and Big Day Out

It is wonderful that after the interrupted year we have had, that our Year 6 students will be able to attend Graduation this year.  Graduation will take place at OLHC on Monday December 13 starting at 7pm.  This will be a special occasion for the Year 6s as they finish their time with us and move on to the next exciting phase of their education.  Details will be sent to the relevant families in the coming days as plans are finalised.

Following Graduation, on Tuesday December 14, the Year 6s will venture to FunFields Park for their Big Day Out.  What a wonderful fun way to celebrate their year and their time with us at OLHC.  I know the students and staff will very much enjoy their day together to build one final memory of their primary school years.  We all hope they have a safe and fun-filled experience.

Last Day of School

Our last day of school for students is December 15.  This year instead of an end of year Mass we will be having class liturgies and a final assembly in the Church from 11.40 to 12.30.  Parents are welcome to attend.  Please note that we will need to follow the Church’s COVID protocols so please be sure to have your phones ready for QR code signing in and COVID certificates for viewing when asked.

Friendly Final Pickup!

Following the assembly, parents are welcome to wander over to the Community Centre to gather outside for a cuppa and catch up chat prior to students being dismissed at 1pm. Denise will be making her famous scones and the canteen will be open for icy pole sales. We plan to wave farewell to our Year 6 students as they leave our grounds as OLHC students for the last time.  It will be a wonderful way for our school community to say farewell and Merry Christmas.

Christmas Carols

Christmas Carols are always a wonderful way to engage the school community and promote the atmosphere and spirit of Christmas.  Last month the three Principals from our parish met with Fr Michael to discuss a range of school and parish matters including Sacraments and events such as Christmas Carols.  Unfortunately due to the restrictions placed on activities such as singing it was not possible to plan for this event.  The guidelines at the time and up until late last week required performers to be at least 2m apart and 5m from the audience.  The uncertainty as to when that advice would change so as to plan for the event, the challenges those guidelines posed for teachers to be able to prepare students and other pressing priorities meant it would not be possible to hold the event this year.  We look forward to events such as Christmas Carols and other community gatherings returning next year.

St Vincent de Paul Society Christmas Appeal

Thank you to families for supporting the St Vincent de Paul Christmas appeal. Please see the Education in Faith section for more details.

Student Free Day on Monday

A reminder as per communication earlier this week, that Monday is a school closure day as teachers plan for the 2022 school year.

Warm regards
