Principal’s Message

Mr Nick Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

There are a number of changes to the COVID restrictions for schools that have been put in place as of today. The most significant change is one that we have known about for some time: that all teachers, staff, contractors and volunteers in the school setting must now be fully vaccinated. This includes parents wishing to volunteer in the canteen and, in the future, to volunteer as a parent helper for reading groups or during school events. This does not include if you are visiting the front office for a short time to pick up your child or to drop something off. You will be asked to present your vaccination certificate at the front office if you are volunteering at our school and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this regard.

It is also important to note that our health and safety protocols continue to include ensuring that any staff or students with flu-like symptoms remain at home and to get tested. We are continuing to ensure that each classroom has good ventilation and extra cleaning each afternoon. We are also continually reminding students to wash hands regularly through the school day.

The new restrictions allow us to do some school activities that were previously prohibited. This includes having our weekly assembly (outside), day excursions within the town limits, recommencement of sport, face to face PTF meetings after school hours and school masses and liturgies. There are a number of events which have been added to our calendar for the last 5 weeks of the term in line with these new guidelines.

We are due to commence our Term 4 sport program this Wednesday at the Boggabri Pool. This will obviously be dependent on the weather this week. All permission notes and money to be paid can be completed on the Compass app, however if you would prefer to pay in cash, please contact the office. Permission notes are due today and cover all 5 weeks of the swimming program.

This Thursday is Remembrance Day and all staff and students will take part in a ceremony in the ANZAC garden beginning at 10.45am. The School Captains and myself will take part in the Boggabri community ceremony at the Cenotaph.

Special mention to Vicky who celebrates her 8th birthday today. Also to Felicity who turns 11 on Wednesday 10th and Hallie (12) on Friday 12th November.

We hope you all have an amazing day!

Have a great week!

Nick
