Welcome Back

Weeks 2 & 3

Welcome Back

Welcome back, everyone, to term 3. There will be quite a bit going on this term. I will mention a few things below. Now that the shortest day of the year is behind us, we can look forward to longer, sunnier days. All the staff have come back flu-free after the great break. During the first week of school, we had many students absent. I want to thank the parents for keeping sick children home. Also, parents have been phoning the school to ask whether their children should be at school or not because they have flu symptoms. Please call the office if you have concerns about colds and flu with your child. It is better to have a conversation over the phone than for Bernadette to phone parents of unwell children to come back to school to pick them up.

Parent Teacher Interviews Wednesday 20th July

Today are our parent-teacher interviews. This is the first time that w have used an online booking system to book interview times. The feedback that we have had from parents has been very positive. Please let us know if you experienced any difficulty using the new system. It is much better for school than sorting out lots of return slips and the times ourselves.

I hope many of you got the chance to meet Mrs Kylie Hudson, who started just before the term two holidays. She used the time to introduce herself to the parents and allow them to tell her about their child.

George School Closure 22nd July

Friday of this week, we are having a curriculum day so the staff can continue their professional development with Challenging Learning. After this Friday, professional development with Challenging Learning this year and the start of 2023 will not require having a curriculum day. The convenor will be observing our staff and teaching and giving feedback. Please let the office know if your child needs to come to school on Friday due to work.

School Photos 16th August

School photos will be during week 6 on Tuesday 16th August. Information will be going home shortly about how to pay for the photos.

Fathers Day

Fathers Day is at the start of September, and we will do something different from our Friday morning breakfast this year. Information will be going out at the beginning of August about this. It will be an early evening event and involve fun, competition and food.
