School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

One way to foster strong positive relationships in our school is to frequently acknowledge the positive behaviours that we see our students performing every day.

It feels good when somebody sees that you are doing the right thing and lets you know that they appreciate your effort! Our students crave the acknowledgement just as much as anybody else. It is for this reason that APS has developed a system that first teaches students what they are expected to do, and then acknowledges them for actually doing it!

It is called the High 5! And it is our way of saying ‘Thanks! I saw that!’. It is acknowledging that the behaviour that I am seeing right now, is a behaviour that we like here at Albanvale Primary School and that we want to see more of.

Your child might get a High 5! for any number of reasons. Maybe for playing kindly with their friends. Maybe for using the play equipment correctly. Maybe for returning the sports equipment at the end of lunch!

By acknowledging these behaviours as we see them, it will make your child more likely to repeat it in the future, as well as encourage other students who missed out to display the behaviour next time!

This is what a High 5! looks like, and here are also some happy shoppers from this week’s High 5 Shop!
