Year 9 Walk the Talk

Last Friday, Year 9 students had the opportunity to participate in the Walk the Talk program. This program, run by Enlighten Education, provided the students with the chance to think critically about what respect looks like in relationships. The session commenced with Dannielle Miller, CEO of Enlighten Education, talking to the students about the role young people play in ‘walking the talk’ and being promoters of safe, respectful and healthy relationships. Danni spoke about our local domestic violence shelter, The Haven, and the students commenced brainstorming how we can support this refuge for women and children.

Danni then worked with the girls and Jack ran a session with the boys. Important issues exploring healthy relationships were discussed and unpacked and both Danni and Jack commented on how amazing our young people were in these sessions!

The students level of enjoyment are certainly evident in their evaluations:

Watch this space as this very impressive group of young people look to put their ideas into action in Term 3 to support The Haven!
