Principal's Message

                                                                     Mrs Josie Crisara

Refresh and Renew

The semester break should be an opportunity for refreshment and renewal. As we move into the winter months it is important to follow healthy eating habits, have lots of rest and relaxation.

It has been a busy end to the term with student examinations in Years 10 and 11, the Year 12 formal (substitute for missing out on the Ball when they were in Year 11), assessments across all year levels, SSV sport in Primary and Secondary, extension activities such as the Accelium Olympics (problem-solving competition) where our students came third.

Staff Changes

We thank Ms Aine O’Neill and Ms Jaime Brown who have completed contracts for this term and wish them all the best for the future.

Mrs Rhonda Edmonds will be taking Long Service Leave in Semester 2, and we welcome Ms Carla Barrett as her replacement.

We also welcome Ms Shivani Plaha, who will be teaching English in Years 7-10.

Music tutors Ms Ally Broddle and Mr Chris Limpah have resigned and we thank them for their contributions over the past few years.

We welcome back Miss Hannah Petterson, returning from Parental Leave who will be sharing Year 4 with Mrs Francis Scuderi.

We thank Mrs Scuderi for all her wonderful work as Head of School (Dunhelen) for nine years but we are excited that she is remaining at the school in a part-time role in primary.

Ms Jacky Armstrong will be Acting Head of Middle School in Semester 2, with Ms Sherry Sadler picking up Acting Assistant Head of School for Year 8.

The following staff will be returning from Long Service Leave:  Mrs Jenny Shipp, Dr Adele Hudson, Mr Glenn Hudson and Mr Tassie Eleftheriou.

Mickleham Road

The joint Federal and State announcement regarding funding for Mickleham Road duplication and signalisation of our intersection is well received. A copy of the press release is attached. I again thank members of our community for the strong advocacy over many years. Once a timeline is announced, information will be sent out to families.

School Community Safety Order

The Andrews government has initiated a School Community Safety Order to promote the importance of collaboration and respectful behaviour between parents and school staff. Overwhelmingly this is not an issue at Aitken, but it is a reminder of the importance of adhering to Our Code of Conduct whether in person, on social media and through other channels. The Code of Conduct has been updated to reflect these changes and can be found on My Aitken.
