World Book Week

Fostering Life Long Readers

During the entire week, the SRC team went to Cecil Hills Primary School to read to and help the kindergarten students and teachers. Mr. King, two other junior SRC students from Year 8 to 10, and I walked from the high school to the primary school in the morning. We signed our names off as soon as we entered the school and entered the kindergarten classroom.

The kindergarteners welcomed us, and we all diverged from our allocated tasks to assist the students and teacher. I read to some of the kindergarten students who most required assistance and assisted them in improving their reading and learning abilities. We also aided with the students' everyday routines, assisting them in becoming more confident in their writing and speaking abilities.

The major purpose of the SRC is to improve teaching abilities and promote Book Week - Life Long Readers, which encourages kindergarten students to read more.

I particularly enjoyed assisting kindergarten students and having the privilege and opportunity to visit Cecil Hills Primary School to encourage students to read.
