Cecil Hills High School
25 Years
After having to postpone our 25th Anniversary in 2021, on Friday 24 June, we were finally able to celebrate 25 years of success at Cecil Hills High School! Our Student Representative Council was tasked with deciding the theme for the event and their choice of ‘Celebrating Diversity’ could not have been more fitting. It was fantastic to see students in their cultural dress and to be able to come together to highlight all of the things that make Cecil such a unique and wonderful place.
I would like to thank our special guests; Sean Bowen – Principal 2004 – 2015, Tarsha and Mihajla Gavin – previous school captains and Marianne Siokos – Director, Educational Leadership. I would also like to thank John McGregor – Principal 1996 – 2004 and Mark Sutton – Principal 2015 – present for contributing to the assembly despite being unable to attend. Thanks also to our wonderful student performers, who were all outstanding!
As you will see in the photos throughout this newsletter, the day was a huge success and all students are to be commended on their maturity, respect and sense of fun. As Mr Bowen explained during the assembly, it is the students that make a school great, and our students are the reason why Cecil Hills High School is the best school in NSW!
Today, we say farewell to a number of staff members who have taken up opportunities elsewhere.
Pam Hawkins, our long serving School Learning Support Officer, has decided to pursue a career change after many years supporting our students. John Hong, Science teacher, Chess and Volleyball super-coach, was successful in merit selection for a permanent Science position much closer to home. Jasmine Baonza from our English faculty, is also exploring a change of career and Christopher King has been offered an exciting opportunity as Head Teacher Secondary Studies (Student Support) at another school for the remainder of 2022.

We wish them well in their new endeavors and hope that their experiences at Cecil will be fondly remembered.
As we move into the school holiday period, I would like to thank our wonderful staff for their tireless efforts again this term. Through their hard work, adaptability and willingness to go the extra mile for our students, we have been able to ensure that every class has had a teacher for every lesson. This is quite remarkable in the current environment and I hope that everyone enjoys some time to rest, recover and prepare for Term 3.
I hope that our entire Cecil community enjoys a fantastic break and I look forward to seeing you all in Term 3!
