HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION - GETTING BACK OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY

During semester 1 we looked at re-engaging with the community through excursions and incursions. With restrictions behind us, we could engage and experience health and physical activities in the community again.

Why do we do this at the college? The new experiences provide our students with extended learning outcomes outside of the classroom.

At year 7 we completed our swimming program at the Mildura waves with instructors provided from First Strokes Swim School.

At Year 8 we engaged with Wildside Adventures on the college's rock climbing wall to prepare for the Year 8 Halls Gap camp.

Years 9, 10, 11 and12 cohorts experienced a range of activities at Sunraysia Golf Range's new high-tech facility, bowling at the Mildura Lawn Bowls Club, group fitness and training with Snap Fitness, Thrive Fitness, Mildura Waves, Club Aquarius, Strike Force Self Defence and the new state of the art altitude training facility Air Locker.

Our Year 10 H&PE core students engaged in our job ready unit, in which students visited local workplaces and training organisations of La Trobe University, Australian Vintage Merbein packaging, WDEA Works Mildura and the SuniTafe smart farm. These local community organisations extend and relate to classroom learning in our health and physical education programs.  While we expand our students' learning we also support and engage with local community organisations, and community is at the heart of St Joseph’s College.

We would like to thank all local community organisations who provided their time and effort to create sensational learning experiences for our students.
