Callout for Performers for the Great Lee Street Fete Stage Show

We are seeking any talented parents, carers, extended family members of friends who might be interested in performing at the Fete. The Fete Stage Show is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the talent within our school community and celebrate our love of all things Performing Arts at the school.

Please email rachel.corben@education.vic.gov.au if you are interested or know of someone who might be.

Thank you!

The Great Lee Street Fete Talent Show - Sign Up Form

We are also seeking students with talents to perform in our Great Lee Street Fete Talent Show. The Talent Show is a great opportunity for us to showcase the individual and group talents of our very own students!

We are asking parents and carers to please assist their child to sign up for the talent show using the Googleform link below:

Dear CNPS families,

We need your connections. The Fete team are seeking all food and alcohol hook-ups. Do you know someone who can help us get us a good deal? A fruit and veg purveyor? A secret beer supplier? Or a hot bread dealer?

In all seriousness, we are on the hunt for raw ingredients to get our amazing food stalls up and running.  The more we can get for a good price (or donated), the more money we can make for the school. Sourcing alcohol and food is a time consuming process and we would love any connections you can give us. In return we will give the business a credit on the stall, a nice plug on our social media and the school newsletter.

Food Stalls for Fete day are: Devonshire Tea, Crepes, Curry, Balkan Bites, BBQ, Japanese, Falafel and Lobster Rolls. Yummo!

Are you someone who can't help at the Fete but would like to contribute? We are looking for families who would like to donate towards the purchase of two new marquees/tents. This donation will live on beyond the Fete as the marquees will be used for sports carnivals, election BBQs and other events. We estimate each marquee may be around $700. This is a very cool thing to donate towards and will relieve you of any further Fete day support!

Next week..... we call for stall volunteers. Thanks for your time, it's all coming together and we know it's going to be a fantastic day for all.

Jams and Preserves

We are now taking donations for the Fete – remember to sterilise your jars (https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/how-sterilise-jars) and list the ingredients.

There are jars at the office if you need them, just under the front counter.  We will label the jars for the Fete, so listing on paper is fine.  Drop donations off at the office and I will collect them.

The jam and preserves stall sells out of everything, so the more donations the better!  Don’t just think jams, it could be anything in a jar including chutneys, cordials, spice rubs, spiced nuts, salad dressings and lemon butter, etc.

School Jam making sessions:

Sunday March 5 – 2.00pm – 5.00pm

Saturday March 18 – 2.00pm – 5.00pm

The more the merrier, please let me know if you can attend, even if it’s for an hour.

Dukkah recipe

  • ½ cup hazelnuts
  • ▢3 tablespoon almonds
  • ▢4 tablespoon white sesame seeds
  • ▢3 tablespoon shelled pistachios
  • ▢1 tablespoon fennel seeds
  • ▢1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ▢1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • ▢½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ▢kosher salt

Instructions

  • Place the hazelnuts and almonds in a dry cast iron pan (do NOT add oil). Toast briefly over medium-high heat, tossing regularly, until the nuts gain some color (watch for nuts to turn a nice golden brown). Transfer to a side dish for now.
  • Place the sesame seeds in the same skillet and return to the heat. Toast over medium heat, tossing regularly, until the sesame seeds turn golden brown (this will be fairly quick so watch carefully).
  • Add the toasted nuts and sesame seeds to the bowl of a small food processor fitted with a blade. Add the pistachios, fennel seeds, spices, and a generous dash of kosher salt. Pulse for a few seconds until you reach a nice coarse mixture (Do not over process the dukkah. The mixture should not be too fine. See photos and video for exact texture).
  • Transfer to a tight lid jar

If you have excess fruit from your trees, please let me know and I will put it to good use.

Plants

We need your help!! We are planning for a beautiful lush plant stall at the Fete this year and need…lots of plants! If you, or someone you know, is able to cultivate some clippings or seedlings between now and March, please get your green thumbs into action.

We’d love any type of greenery:

Indoor plants

Outdoor plants

Natives

Flowers

Edibles (herbs etc)

Other items we could also use include:

Plant/gardening books to donate

Unused empty decorative pots

Unopened packets of seeds

Worm tea from worm farms (or jars to collect worm tea)

White clothes rack/hanger for hanging pots

Plant stands

Rattan chairs/table to borrow for the stall

If you happen to be a crafty type, as well as a green thumb, why not try to whip up a few macrame hangers to go with your beautiful pot plants.

Thanks in advance for your green help!

Requests for volunteers (for stalls, set up and pack up etc) will be posted soon. If you can’t do a key role, have a think  where you might like to volunteer on the day or in the lead up.
