Grade 2 Students

Celebrating our terrific Twos!

2A - Miss Joy

In Grade 2, students have been working on developing their number sense of values up to 100. This involved the use of 100s charts and identifying the missing numbers using phrases, such as ‘greater than’, ‘less than’, and ‘equal to’. To build their mathematical toolkits, students also looked at the features of number lines and how they can be used in both games and problem-solving.

2B - Miss Bailey

This week in writing 2B have been creating snapshot writing pieces. We have been focusing on using our five senses to create descriptive sentences. We wrote about our lunchboxes and discussed all the astounding WOW words we could use. Some examples of our WOW words were scrumptious, delicious, squishy, mouth-watering, fragrant and so many more! We are excited to continue our snapshot writing later this week, taking advantage of the beautiful weather and creating writing pieces about our stunning school grounds and the fascinating construction.

As part of our Respectful Resilience program, we are working on developing our emotional literacy. We had the wonderful Mr. Lewis come in for a lesson on the Zones of Regulation. We learned about the 4 zones and the emotions that we might feel in each. Here is the activity that we completed where we sorted the emotions into zones.
