Principal's Report
Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2023
What a fabulous two weeks we have had here at Rangeview. We have had Level 4 Lacrosse Clinics, Level 5/6 Water Safety, Clean Up Australia Day, Level 3 / 4 Book Club, Division Swimming, Building Language Learners German Day, and the whole school Twilight Picnic. It is lovely to see the students so settled into their new grades and engaged with their learning.
Cambridge Education PLC Coaching
This term Rangeview has been selected to participate in a Professional Coaching model offered by the Department of Education and provided by Cambridge Education.
Our Cambridge Coach - Margaret Orm - is working with our leadership team and our Professional Learning Community (PLC) leaders to strengthen and embed our PLC model across the school. Our Professional Learning Communities see teachers meeting fortnightly to look at student data, identify areas for learning improvement, and implement change to modify and improve our teaching practice. This works within the FISO Improvement Cycle. We are looking forward to this coaching leading to increased effectiveness of our PLC teams.
Twilight Picnic
On Thursday 2nd March we held the Rangeview Twilight Picnic on the school oval from 5pm - 7pm. I would like to congratulate and thank the team that put on the event for our Rangeview Community. Mitch Clark, Meg Hubbard and Sam Anderson worked tirelessly in setting up and then running a hugely successful event which saw hundreds of our families attend and take part. Thank you also to Liam Sommers, Kate McLeod and Tania Balderston for assisting on the night. A big thanks to our P&F and all of the parents who volunteered on the BBQ and ice pole stand, and also to Chris Roche who compared the evening - it was a pity the sound was not able to travel to be heard across the oval.
We had students competing in every level race and we sold out of sausages at the sausage sizzle. The line for the three legged race went down the hill and around the Grade 3 portables and we still had students disappointed when we finally called a halt to races at 715pm. The evening was a huge success!
Class Ambassadors
Our wonderful Class Ambassadors are now in place for 2023 and every grade has an ambassador or several ambassadors to represent them. The main roles of a Class Ambassador is to encourage parent involvement in the school community, promote Parent and Friends activities, be a contact for families and distribute the contact details that have been collated by the school.
During the year Class Ambassadors are encouraged to organise catch-ups (either dinners or coffees). These opportunities to meet and get to know other parents are beneficial to everyone. They are particularly important for new families in Foundation, new families joining the school community throughout the year, as well as parents who work during the day.
Having a Class Ambassador also enables communication and organisation between the teachers and families in relation to classroom helpers and other activities, including excursions etc. The Class Ambassador will decide the best way to get communication to the parents in their Class. It could be by email, text message or setting up a “what’s App” group. Please ensure any group chats are supportive, inclusive and appropriate.
If you are not sure who your child's class ambassador(s) are, please speak to your classroom teacher.
Rangeview Lego Master
We are thrilled to congratulate our wonderful Enrichment and Digitech Teacher - Ryan Evans - on his participation in this years Season of Lego Masters - Grand Masters!
Ryan is returning to the show in 2023 as an all star and he will be competing this season for the ultimate title of Grand Master. In the words of Hamish Blake - ' There can only be one winner, ..... well two winners, there will only be two winners!'
We wish Mr Evans the best and will be watching along with the community as he builds and creates his way through the season.

Heatherdale Reserve - naming of the new pavilion
Message from our previous School Council President - Lloyd Lazaro
In respecting the land on which the Pavilion sits on, and the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, to their elders past, present and emerging, we’d like the Heatherdale Reserve Pavilion to be a ‘mandjar’ – a continuous community ‘meeting place’.
Our unique identity is not defined in any one individual – yet across our Club (and the Jets), there are several people/families worthy of their names adorning the new Pavilion (a few that have been Founding Members, continue to actively participate in our Club and their children will carry their legacies forward). Our unique identity is not solely distinguished by the Blue we so proudly wear. Our unique identity is not even embedded in a suburb (yet we have a train station named Heatherdale). Our true identity is defined by the recognition of the above-mentioned DNA threads – underpinned by the values we live by – family, community, diversity and fun (to name a few). As a Club, ‘We Are 1’ and committed to the principle of ‘keep giving’, therefore here is our opportunity to live it out. Indeed, ‘the whole is greater than the sum of parts’. We are a big family, the Heatherdale family - with a heart for our community, and future generations.
To that end, together with our Board, we’re calling on all Members, Families and Supporters to register the name, Heatherdale Reserve Pavilion via yoursay.whitehorse.vic.gov.au It is a short 13 point survey that needs to be completed with Q5 being important.
