SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

Hello everyone! I’m excited to be working with our new Sustainability leaders, Amy and Nathan.

We have begun by revisiting our leadership speeches and what it means to take on a leadership role at Trinity. We brainstormed lots of Sustainability project ideas they would like to be involved in this year, as well as some questions we have and things we need to find out, such as which vegetables and flowers we can plant at different times of the year, and which plants are indigenous to our local area and how we might find out.

We are looking forward to getting our hands stuck into the vegetable garden very soon!

A question for our Vietnamese families!

The students would like to grow some Vietnamese vegetables. I would like some advice on what would be good to plant and where we could find seeds. If you can help, please email Miss Belinda at bnechwatal@tcs.catholic.edu.au

Gardening Club

Gardening Club has begun with an enthusiastic start!  Today’s exciting project was to prepare our four composting worm farms, and put in 1,000 new worms to eat our food scraps and make our soil rich and ready to grow delicious vegetables. A big thank you to students from 5/6BOC who dug the deep holes to bury the worm farms in each garden bed.

We also dug over the soil and planted silverbeet and basil. Yum! I am already dreaming of some delicious pasta with pesto and silverbeet!

NUDE FOOD DAY - EVERY THURSDAY.

We ask students to choose foods which create no rubbish to bring for lunch on this day. Some great ideas can be found at https://www.nudefoodday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/HOW-TO-PACK-A-NUDE-FOOD-LUNCH.pdf

Some yummy ideas - a sandwich/wrap/roll, pasta with vegetables, soup, frittata or sushi, a fruit or vegetable snack, such as whole fruit, cut up veggie sticks, fruit or savoury kebab or a small salad.

Have a great week everyone! Thanks for your great efforts in helping us live in a way that is kinder to our environment!
