2023 NAPLAN Information for NAPLAN parents and carers

Why do students do NAPLAN?NAPLAN is a national literacy and numeracyassessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9sit each year. It is the only national assessment allAustralian students have the opportunity to undertake.

As students progress through their school years, it’simportant to check how well they are learning theessential skills of reading, writing and numeracy.

NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills thatstudents are learning through the school curriculumand allows parents/carers to see how their child isprogressing against national standards and over time.

NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessmentand reporting process. It doesn’t replace ongoingassessments made by teachers about studentperformance, but it can provide teachers withadditional information about students’ educationalprogress.

NAPLAN also provides schools, education authoritiesand governments with information about how educationprograms are working and whether young Australiansare achieving important educational outcomes in literacy

Camps and Excursion Policy

This policy applies to all camps and excursions organised by Roxburgh Homestead Primary School. This policy also applies to adventure activities organised by Roxburgh Homestead Primary School, regardless of whether or not they take place on or off school grounds.

This policy is intended to complement the Department’s policy and guidelines on excursions, camps and adventure activities which all Victorian government schools are required to follow. Roxburgh Homestead Primary School will follow both this policy, as well as the Department’s policy and guidelines when planning for and conducting camps and excursions.

Parent Payment Policy

Roxburgh Homestead Primary School is looking forward to another great year of teaching and learning and would like to advise you of Roxburgh Homestead Primary School’s voluntary financial contributions for 2023. Schools provide students with free instruction to fulfil the standard Victorian curriculum and we want to assure you that all contributions are voluntary. Nevertheless, the ongoing support of our families ensures that our school can offer the best possible education and support for our students. We want to thank you for all you support, whether that’s through fundraising or volunteering your time. This has made a huge difference to our school and the programs we can offer.

Community Complaints

Roxburgh Homestead Primary School welcomes feedback, both positive and negative, and is committed to continuous improvement. We value open communication with our families and are committed to understanding complaints and addressing them appropriately. We recognise that the complaints process provides an important opportunity for reflection and learning.

We value and encourage open and positive relationships with our school community. We understand that it is in the best interests of students for there to be a trusting relationship between families and our school.
