Productive Garden

Shalani Marasinghe

2023 in the BNW productive garden

In Enviro Science this year, Shalani will be teaching Enviro on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Alicia is joining the team, teaching Tuesday to Thursday. The Enviro Science & Gardening curriculum is linked with Science and Geography in the Victorian Curriculum. We design our program based on the question “what does the Earth need children to know to build a sustainable world for all?” Children learn to be scientists, gardeners, and cooks, as well as how to care for every body - human and more-than-human.

Cooking Sessions: For all families of children with anaphylaxis, please be aware that we will not introduce the ingredients your child is allergic to in any cooking classes throughout the year.

We also love having extra helpers during Enviro classes, especially when we do cooking.

We are keenly anticipating the arrival of chickens! In order to be ready to get chickens, we will be finishing the chicken coop at the first working bee of the year. It would be great to see lots of people from the whole school community there 🙂 We will soon be looking for families to go on a chicken care roster to ensure they are well cared for.

Community Working Bee: March 4th, 9:30-12:30
