Welcome to 2A!
What a start to Term Three we have had! This year has been filled with exciting learning, new friends and great memories. It has been so wonderful to see everyone so engaged with our remote learning and returning to school ready to learn! Over the remote learning periods, 2A stayed connected through our morning meetings, breakout room sessions and directed drawing activities.
In literacy this term, the students have been learning about procedural texts and the structure of these. We have been reading and creating a variety of procedural texts, including how to blow up a balloon without air, which was a super fun experiment!!
We have also been reading George’s Marvellous Medicine and designing some crazy combinations of questionable ingredients like Connor’s idea of ‘1 hairy foot’, or Gurnaaz’ idea of ‘the legs of a Redback’, mixing it together with the aim of making you grow as wide as the universe. Over the remote learning period we saw some amazing procedures written about how to play games such as Pokemon cards and how to make eggs and bacon for breakfast!
In Numeracy, we finished Term Two looking at time, calendars and seasons. We got pretty creative with our ‘Seasons Tree’ craft, and really enjoy dancing the Macarena to the Months of The Year song.
This term we have been working hard on counting small amounts of money, finding equivalent amounts, adding amounts together and calculating simple change.
During remote learning the students designed their ULTIMATE EXCURSION!! The
students had to select their snacks, lunch and activities and stay within the budget of $50. As this was a challenging task, and all of the activities were super exciting, we did an amazing job at planning an event. We had a lot of fun during our Money unit.
I am blown away with the amazing effort 2A has been showing towards their learning and cannot wait to see what the rest of the year holds for our AWESOME class!
