Music Matters

Congratulations to Ms Lindley and the Year 12 Drama students on their performances in their Trial performances last Sunday. The boys are certainly on the right track at this stage and look to perform with confidence later in the term when they have their HSC performances. Thanks to PAPA and especially Mrs Carmel Daniels for the food packages which were appreciated by the boys and gave them extra energy for their performances.

In the midst of uncertain times we had some great news from our trumpet teacher David Sismey. His students achieved some great results in their AMEB exams.

Drama Matters

Students in the Year 12 Elective Drama class performed their Trial Group Project on Sunday. They have been very resilient in the face of ongoing COVID-19 circumstances, performing in masks with no audience. After initially working together as a group of 6 the class broke into two groups and have written two very different plays. The HSC syllabus is divided into 3 sections: a written examination, an individual major work, and a group project. All students studying Drama in NSW will undertake the Group Project. This is an original piece of theatre, a complete theatrical statement, written and performed by each group. Every student is given the opportunity to demonstrate their performance skills and students collaborate to make this happen. It is one of the hardest tasks presented to any group of young people. How do you make something out of nothing and make it relevant and sophisticated when you are performing for only 8-12 minutes? I have only admiration for this group of students who have dedicated themselves to this task with humour and passion.

The two plays written this year are:

Bookers, Clarke & Co written and performed by Reuben Jacobson, Tristan Jung and Alec Ramsbottom.

The Storyteller written and performed by Douglas Daniels, Charlie Hamill & Ashley Johnson.

A very big thank you to PAPA for the refreshments, and in particular, Mrs Carmel Daniels who prepared them, we really appreciated them.  We also thank Mr Timmins for the  ongoing support.
