Last Friday we had a Merit Assembly which was hosted by Mr Carroll. It was a very positive experience and the prayer at the beginning was the Aboriginal Our Father in honour of the end of NAIDOC week.
Aboriginal Our Father
You are Our Father, you live in heaven
We talk to you, Father you are good (repeat)
We believe your Word Father
We your children, give us bread today (repeat)
We have done wrong, we are sorry
Help us Father not to sin again (repeat)
Others have done wrong to us
And we are sorry for them, Father today (repeat)
Stop us from doing wrong, Father
Save us all from the evil one (repeat)
You are Our Father, you live in heaven
We talk to you, Father you are good (repeat)
The Lord’s Prayer from the “Missa Kimberley”

During the holidays Tom K and his dad entered a Family Bass tournament up at Lake St Clair near Singleton. They camped next to the lake and competed against other anglers each day. The tournament was a catch and release tournament for bass, fishing out of a boat using only a lure or fly with contestant’s four biggest bass weighed each day over two days. Tom and his dad finished with 8 bass over the weekend which weighed 6.124 kg. With a large field entered Tom was excited to finish 2nd in the tournament. The photo below is one of the big bass that Tom caught.

We miss you so much – the JRC looks gloomy without you!
As State Librarian John Vallance says: “Libraries don’t make sense without people in them.”
Though the JRC is temporarily closed, please see below for ways to access books online.
I cannot wait to welcome you all back in person. Until then, stay safe and take care.

Mrs Martin’s Book Trail: The Boy Who Stepped Through Time by Anna Ciddor

This book is a time slip back to Roman life. It beautifully weaves details about life in late Roman times for children and slaves, right down to the finer details like bathing and using the toilet!
The characters are engaging and allow middle grade readers to engage in a deep understanding of an ancient culture. Are you keen on ancient history?
I am also looking forward to Lachlan Mirabello’s review, I believe he has given it the thumbs up! #mrsmartinsbooktrail2021
