Premiers’ Reading Challenge: 50 Registrations and 500 books to read

This is getting interesting! St. Joseph’s College is a Premiers’ Reading Challenge school and our  PRC School Challenge is to have 50 students registered and 500 books read by 17 September.

As of today, 30 students have registered and 177 books read. New numbers are being updated regularly on the PRC Tally Boards in the Library.

If students have not received a PRC registration email, they can email Mrs Bush cbush@sje.vic.edu.au and ask.

Students can look in the Library catalogue at SIMON/ Student link/ Library catalogue for books identified with a blue PRC icon and hover the mouse over the icon to see the student reading level. There is also a display of PRC books in the Library. Problems?  Email library@sje.vic.edu.au

New Koorie Collection a permanent feature in the College Library

The College Library has created a new Koorie Collection (non-fiction) as a permanent feature.  This collection gives students, staff and families an easily accessible starting point within the Library to read something of the life, history, culture, art and traditions of Indigenous people from the time of first contact to the present day, and learn about the ancient history of our country.

Pictured is Aunty Donna, Koorie Educator, in front of the new collection.

The SJC Parent/Carer Library is coming soon!

Parents and Carers of our students will soon be able to borrow from the entire Library collection, including new titles from the Senior Fiction and Non-fiction sections.

See the next Newsletter for more details.
