Performing Arts Week: Karaoke Under the Sails
We are almost at the end of the term and over the past few weeks our students have been involved in many activities. Thank you to Ms Olivieri for organising the ‘Write a Book in a Day’ experience. This week is Performing Arts week and on Monday, 9th September, we were thoroughly entertained by the students performing at the Spring Music Recital. Congratulations also to our girls who have participated in various sporting teams over the past few weeks.
We have received the reports for the 2019 NAPLAN (National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy) and these will be posted home. These individual student reports are supplied by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) and contain confidential information about your daughter’s results. Please contact me at the College if you have any queries about them.
Trial exams for all Year 12 subjects will commence in the second week of the upcoming term break and finish during the first week of Term 4: Wednesday, 2nd October to Wednesday, 9 October. Students have received the schedule for these exams.
The trial exams provide an opportunity for students to complete an exam under the same conditions they will complete their final exams in October/November. It is also an opportunity to receive feedback on strengths and areas for improvement.
We expect all students to attend the trial exams for the subjects they are undertaking in Year 12. Full school uniform is required for the trial exams. The attendance roll will be taken at each exam and it is an expectation that a medical certificate will be provided and shown to the subject teacher for any exams not attended due to illness. Should a medical certificate not be provided, students will receive a 0 result for the trial exam on the portal.
We wish all our Year 12 students success as they prepare for their end of year exams.
Interim reports for Term 3 are currently being completed by teachers and will be uploaded onto the portal at the end of the term. The reports are in a tick-a-box format and highlight your daughter’s skills for learning and quality of work along a continuum. A rubric is used to complete these reports and can be found here. Please remember to regularly check the results of your daughter’s assessment tasks on the portal. Teachers provide valuable feedback on the strengths and areas for improvement for each assessment task. We wish your daughter all the very best in her studies.
This week was held from 1-7 September and is dedicated to building an eSmart Australia. The following has been taken from the eSmart.org.au website:
National eSmart Week is a week where schools and public libraries come together to promote the smart, safe and responsible use of digital technology. Last year saw a record 1000 organisations taking part, helping to create awareness, solutions and ideas for community education on issues of cyber safety, bullying and wellbeing online, and offline.
