Principal's Report

2020 Senior Student Leaders

Dear Families and Friends

The last few weeks at Presentation College have been filled with the best of the performing arts.  The joint PCW/CBC venture, Overpass Theatre, put on an outstanding production of Grease, which was held at the Chapel off Chapel theatre.  The aspiring performers, musicians and artists experienced showcasing their skills, talents and passions to sold out performances.  The Performing Arts Week entertained the students with a range of activities like the Spring Music Recital, Music Theatre Trivia, Karaoke Under the Sails, an Open Mic Session and a String Ensemble Open Rehearsal.

I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to all our performers, musicians and artists for their contributions these last few weeks.  I am so proud of our girls, their talents and gifts.  Rory Godbold, Performing Arts Learning Leader, Matt Zambon, our music teacher, and all the staff and students who were involved in these activities gave of their time so generously and they should be proud of the results of their commitment and dedication to our students.

Next week, we will be finishing the term with what I am sure will be another spectacular Art Show.

I am pleased to announce that Music Fest 2020 will be held at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Friday, 14th February.  Please save this date as it will be a super special event next year.

I would also like to let you know that Ms April Honeyman has been appointed by the Presentation Association, including the Presentation Sisters Victoria, to continue in the role of facilitating the closure of the college at the end of 2020.  April is a highly respected past principal of two Catholic girls’ schools, has always been a strong advocate for girls’ education, and comes with great knowledge and experience in Catholic education in Victoria.  Michael Elphick will be doing a handover with April this week, and he will still have some involvement in this process.

With the end of term and holidays fast approaching, I am looking forward to some down time with my family and having a detox from technology for at least a few days.  You may find this article, published by Anxiety.org, about using social media and anxiety interesting:  Is your online addiction making  you anxious?

Please enjoy reading this edition of the Lantern as you peruse all the activities that have taken place at the College over the last few weeks.

Warm regards
