Principal's Report

Welcome Back

The beginning of the school year has started productively. Students have come prepared, wearing their new uniform, with their books and equipment, all ready to learn. Importantly they have been displaying a positive attitude towards their learning.  At our recent first School Assembly, I stressed the need for students to work with their teachers to achieve their highest level in their learning. Our school motto of ”Learn, Grow, Achieve Together” was emphasized as were our values of respect, achievement and responsibility.

The Year 7 students, in particular, have started well.  The enthusiasm they bring with them when they first join us never seizes to amaze me. We recently had our Information Night with the Year 7 students and their families.  It gave our staff an opportunity to talk to the parents and students and learn more about them and how their children are feeling about their new school.  All feedback, was again, extremely positive.  The Student Success program is in its fourth year now and still continues to receive very positive feedback from students and families.

The College’s Annual Implementation Plan for 2019 has been finalised by School Council, with the focus of the Strategic Plan underpinning all the key improvement strategies. We continue to look forward to the improvements that this will bring.

Our Vision and Values continue to be at fore of our work. The college plans to send out to all our families a copy of our Vison and Values document that has resulted as a consequence of our work in this area shortly with the school magazine.

The Junior and Senior School Team structure has once again started well. It is important that communication between home and the school is strong. Research recognizes that in order to be successful in school, students need support from both the home and school and that a strong partnership with parents/guardians and support people will make a great difference in their child’s education.

Finally, I wish to take this opportunity to invite all prospective 2020 Year 7 students and parents and guardians to the College’s Transition Evening on Tuesday, 19 March 2019, from 6pm to 7.30pm. The program on offer this evening will begin with a short welcome and it will then be followed by a tour of approximately an hour in length showcasing some of the exemplary programs that are offered by the College.
