Principal's Report

What a wonderful evening it was at the recent Year 12 Valedictory Dinner. It was an evening of celebration with family and friends and although it was my first at HPSC, it is an event that I look forward to every year.

In my speech, I mentioned the characteristics of successful people and reminded all of our young people to shoot for the stars. I announced that at HPSC we recognise that success comes in many ways, as such this year we will introduce another DUX Award to our Presentation Evening.  We will recognise the DUX of VCAL as well as VCE.

Final VCE Year 12 exams commenced on Tuesday October 30th with the English and EAL exam. I wish all the Year 12 students the best of luck during the exam period.

On Friday October 25th Mr Ayman Youssef and myself attended the Victorian Education Excellence Awards with our amazing Multicultural Education Aide team. Our MEA Team were recognised for their work in supporting our students to be their best. Although on this occasion they did not win the award, we all are incredibly proud of their work in our learning community.

Recently, I attended a Federation Uni and Casey Project Presentation Evening with Ms Vanstan as Year 9 students Kaira Te, Chelsea Skey, Alyssa Pedersen and Nikita Brito pitched their presentation. Congratulations girls, your presentation was most impressive.

Congratulations to Kaira, Lukijana, Galatia, Tanisha, Alanna and Keira who recently participated in the illuminate Program. This program encourages students to use and build entrepreneurial skills. The HPSC team, Operation 66, won a number of awards for their efforts and will now work with a business advisor to further develop their business proposal.

During our Curriculum Day on Melbourne Cup Eve, staff engaged in Professional Learning. As a staff we discussed what characteristics are displayed by high performing schools. During the day staff were actively engaged in workshops which focused on Project Based Learning, our new Mentoring Program commencing in 2020 and our Learning Architecture.

Last night, I conducted a second Parent Feedback Forum. Discussion included

  • The future direction of our College
  • What do families love about our school
  • What are the opportunities for further improvement?

Thank you to all parents, carers and students for your attendance and active participation.

The next few weeks will be extremely busy at the College, as Year 11 exams commence, Year 9 student engage in Mock Interviews, the VCAL Awards evening presentation is happening and the Orientation Week for Year 12 2020 begins, just to name a few.
