Athletics Day
Last Thursday we had the annual House Athletics at the Collingwood Athletics Track. This year the Sports Captains and Executive decided to hold a 'power stall' rather than the usual cake stall. We took initiative to encourage healthy options and nutrition, by providing non-traditional, exciting refreshments to support the central theme of the day. At the stall there was an array of healthy food choices such as smoothies, yogurt, muesli & peach cups, fruit skewers, banana bread, power balls etc........
We would like to extend a huge thankyou to the staff at Frootz on Parade, Biviano and Sons & Toscanos fruit stalls for agreeing to support and sponsor the 'Healhty Eating Initiative' at Melbourne Girls' College with their amazing fruit donations. Also a massive thankyou to patch cafe who supplied a $75 voucher to the girl who scored the highest amount of house points. Congratulations to Maddie Carman from year 11 who received this award. Also a massive thankyou to the nutrition bar who donated a free açai bowl to the girl who had the best costume. Congratulations to Eliza Smith who had the best costume of the day who came as a giant check list from Chisholm, year 12. A huge thank you and congratulations to all girls who helped out on the day, helping to raise a whopping $405.30!!! We are donating these proceedings to Adrian Gilchrist, who has inspired our sports team and the MS exec with his amazing contributions to charitable causes. Each year, he shaves his head in honour of his fathers passing and raises money for Disability's Sports Australia. He has a goal of raising 1500 and our contribution will make a massive difference !
