Year 10

Year 10 News

Year 10 students are well and truly in the swing of the academic year. All students have an accurate timetable of classes and VET students are also into their new courses.

There have been some teething issues with students unsure of new classrooms on their timetable, locker changes and still some uniforms being sorted out. As a teaching team, we would hope that all students have now worked through some of these issues and are now set up with correct equipment  (pens, books, netbooks, etc) and correct uniform (school shoes, business pants/shorts, etc) ready to tackle the rest of the term and year ahead.

There were some new and exciting subjects on offer for students in year 10 this year along with the introduction of pastoral care system in year 10. Students have been engaging in subjects such as  Hands on Humanities, Earth and Me, Health Wellbeing and Lifestyle and Doing the Books Avoiding the Crooks. These subjects are designed to tap directly into the interests of the students and provide a more targeted, engaging experience. Hopefully staff and students are relishing these new opportunities available at Year 10.

A reminder to parents and students that progress reports for year 10 have been introduced this year. It will demonstrate every four or five weeks whether a student is progressing at the appropriate rate. You will be given a report on attendance, work habits and progress. If a student is not progressing, the teacher will instruct what work needs to be complete and you will be given a new due date. This work must then be completed for progress to be made. We look forward to seeing how the year 10 students have begun the year.
