Year 9 Advance – Awards Victoria: motivating young people to succeed

It has been a great year for our Year 9 Advance class – who recently completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s (Dukes) Award qualifying journey in Lorne. The two day hike was a scenic delight - with breathtaking temperate rainforest; gorgeous waterfalls; giant eucalyptus trees and challenging river crossings. The students set up camp at Allenvale and traversed down the mountain to the beautiful Cumberland River Holiday Park. We enjoyed a “recovery” swim at Lorne after the hike. The students are to be congratulated for their positive attitudes and for their resilience, collaborative team work and sense of adventure. Sincere thanks to teachers, Mr Mark Micallef and Mr Owen McIntyre for their practical skills, encouragement and congenial company. Successful Dukes candidates will receive their bronze Award next year.
