“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.” ~ Albert Einstein
This week Foundation students were introduced to STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths).
The students were very excited to embark on a new adventure in their learning journey.
Foundation students explored the concepts of balance, weight, balance point and design. Students brainstormed their prior understandings of balance and what features help objects to balance. Students tested these understandings as they balanced cutlery on the edges of their fingers. They then further explored balance by designing an object from a variety of materials that was able to balance on a rod. Foundation students were questioning, imagining, creating and designing objects and carefully testing their ability to balance on the rod.
It was wonderful to see students adding and removing materials and changing the balance point of their objects.
We definitely have a wonderful group of inquirers at St Raphael’s!
