The 4 rules of ‘SMART’ spelling.

Part of the ‘SMART’ spelling approach is learning 4 key spelling rules to help students spell words correctly. Our students in years 3-6 are focusing on these rules at the moment and it is great to see the enjoyment and enthusiasm that they are showing. Each rule is colour coded to help with the learning of them and they also have some actions to assist the children carry the rule into their long term memory. You can help your child at home by discussing the rule that they are learning about.

Happy spelling everyone!

On Wednesday the 24th of April the teachers at St. Raphael’s all took part in a fantastic professional development day about a new spelling program that will be used in each homeroom across F-6. The program is an engaging way to learn and remember different spelling patterns in the English language. The founder of the program Michelle Hutchison, has worked over many years with  highly skilled teams of teachers and academics developing the approach known as 'SMART Spelling'.
