Ellie Bellsmith, Georgia Clarke, Felicity Edmondson, Anya Hemley, Sandu Mahapatuna, Meredith Ross- James, Violette Spataro, Darby and Riley Stoffell, Tyana Tsai, Claudia Van Vliet.

Thank you also to our voice teachers, Ellyce Calder and Susan de Jong for preparing them.

Congratulations Isabelle Carney – Top Class 2019

The performing arts play an essential role in Melbourne’s rich cultural landscape. Top Class plays an important role of this cultural scene by demonstrating the talent, innovation and creativity of the next generation of Australian actors and theatre makers. As part of the “VCE Season of Excellence” year 11 and 12 Melbourne Girls’ College students went to see Top Class Drama, where performers presented their VCE Drama Solo exam performance – all of which received an outstanding score in the October 2018 performance examinations.  It is always exciting and inspiring to watch exemplary performance work. But even better is when you can watch a Melbourne Girls’ College student on the stage demonstrating outstanding work to the state. Congratulations to Isabelle Carney on achieving, not only an outstanding result for her performance exam, but being selected to present her work at Top Class Drama. Isabelle presented the character The Phone. “The stimulus for this character is the telephone and its history. Concerned about declining human interaction, the Phone approaches its nemesis – the most recent smartphone – at the opening of “Dial T for Telephone, a contemporary art exhibition. The Phone urges its smug rival to ‘dumb down’ for the sake of humanity and shows how the telephone has evolved and affected human behaviour. The Phone highlights the pros and cons of other forms of communication trialed throughout history and gives examples of how human lives have been altered but technological advancements sine the Industrial Revolution”. Congratulations Isabelle – you were a great phone!
