Principal's Report
Mr. Corey Jewell
It was great to finally have some students back on site last week as we welcomed back our Year 11 and 12 students. The students have returned with a positive attitude, and with a genuine enthusiasm to be back amongst the school community. As we all prepare for the return of our Year 7 to 10 students to on-site learning on Tuesday the 9th of June, there are still some key operational guidelines and dates that all parents need to be aware of to ensure everyone complies with the advice of Victoria’s Chief Health Medical Officer. These guidelines will help ensure that all members of our school community remain safe.
I ask all parents and students to refer to the communication on Compass that outlines these guidelines titled – Return to School News.
Community Cookbook
As previously mentioned, while we have all been confined to our homes cooking has become something we can continue to do and experiment with over the past two months. To capture some of things we have been doing at home in the kitchen, we would like anybody who is interested to send us their favourite recipe or family recipe of their favourite dish. The school will then collate the recipes into a cookbook, have it bound and made available to all of our community members.
With such a variety of nationalities at our school we should be able to produce a book that represents a variety of cultures and provides everyone an opportunity to see what was being cooked while in isolation. If you are interested in sending us a recipe all you have to do is send the following information to our school email - lalor.sc@education.vic.gov.au
An example is shown below.
Name - Corey Jewell
Title of Dish - Vegemite on Toast
Recipe - an outline of the ingredients and instruction.
A photo of the finished dish if possible. Please include the nationality of the dish if you wish.
I look forward to seeing the recipes that are submitted and to the final cookbook that will represent everyone within our school.
Semester One Student Reports
As a result of the Covid 19 pandemic and the disruption it has caused to the teaching and learning program within the school the report timeline has been altered in line with the advice from the Department of Education. This means that the Semester One reports will be released to parents and students on Monday the 20th of July (Week 2 Term 3).
Student Free Days
A reminder that there will be two student free days over the coming weeks. Students are not required on site or online during these days.
Wednesday the 3rd of June – Professional Practice Day - Student Free Day
Monday the 8th of June – Queens Birthday Public Holiday – Student Free Day
Friday the 12th of June – Curriculum Day - Student Free Day
Any member of our community that would like more information about the return to school and coronavirus (COVID-19) can be found on the Department’s website, which will continue to be updated:

Thank you for your continued support and patience during this time and we look forward to welcoming back all of our students next week.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Corey Jewell
