Week 8, Term 2
Foundation, Grade 1 and 2 Students enjoyed making and creating together this week with a focus on scissor skills and cutting out hearts galore. After reading the picture story book My Heart Fills with Happiness, by author Monique Gray Smith and discussing what fills OUR hearts with happiness, students were keen to start creating, thinking about the special people they would like to share their hearts with. You may even receive a special heart yourself very soon!
Grade 3 and 4 Students have been continuing to explore the work of Romero Britto as well as honing their photography skills through some bonus activities. A dice game of chance, Roll-A-Britto, gave students an opportunity to play with colour and pattern variations 'a la Britto style'. Take a look at some of our smiling faces submitted for the 'Selfie Challenge'. This activity has given the students the opportunity to take photos of themselves using whatever device they have at home, in poses that convey their true selves. Once we return to school, we will be manipulating these images Britto style to create some very radical self portraits.
The Longest Line was a challenge presented to Grade 5 and 6. There was a strict criteria:
Sounds easy? Have a go yourself. The key is to take your time.
Look around you.....everywhere there are objects that could look like the letters of the alphabet. Students have been searching around their homes, gardens and surroundings for the perfect representation of letters of the alphabet. Here are some examples that have been submitted so far. Can you recognise the letters?
