Going back to school

Some Wellbeing thoughts around coming back to school

Dear Students and Parents,

How exciting is it that we can come back to school soon?

This is a question we need to ask our students. We will get different answers from different children. Most will be very excited, but in reality some children will be a bit nervous or anxious about this situation. It is important for children to understand that they are not alone in feeling anxious or nervous about coming back to school.

The teachers will be:

1. Taking time to reconnect with all our students

2. Making time to talk

3. Embedding wellbeing and circletime in everyday school

4. Giving time to adapt to school again

5. Finding ways to laugh often

We will monitor the wellbeing of students on an ongoing basis.

What can you do to help you child settle back into school?

  1. Be positive about it
  2. Don't under-estimate your child's resilience
  3. Trust our teachers to deal with issues appropriately, they will help your child settle back into school and will contact you when necessary.
  4. Encourage your child to express how they feel and validate their concern.

If your child needs further emotional support, please be in contact with the school or you can call Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800.
