Resource Centre

Our aim in the Resource Centre is to have all students reading. We encourage everyone to find a genre or subject that they enjoy reading. It really doesn’t matter what they are reading, whether it be print form (books, magazines, newspapers) or online sources (eBooks, online magazine or newspaper subscriptions) or even listening to audio materials.

In the primary school, I have enjoyed watching students approach staff for recommendations on what to read. This allows our staff in the Resource Centre to discuss books, which is one of our many passions. We encourage all students to approach us when they want to locate certain books or when they want to find new material to read.

Change of Dates for National Book Week in 2020. This year we will be holding our Book Week Celebration in the week of 19 – 23 October, 2020 instead of the usual August dates.

The Pop-up book fair will run on the 20 and 21 October.

New Resource Arrivals

Each month we receive a standing order of a selection of books for students from K - 12.

Donation

At the beginning of the year we received an anonymous donation of $500 to purchase materials for the library. The ways in which we will utilize this donation is to;

  • Replace books that have been damaged or lost
  • Fulfill student requests
  • Purchase books to support topics being taught in classes both in the primary and secondary school.

The Library staff would like to thank the very generous benefactor, as their kind donation has allowed us the freedom to purchase a greater selection of books. It has also allowed us support a local business during the last few months - Collins Booksellers, Echuca.

Scholastics Book Club

Thank you for supporting the Scholastics Book Club. Did you know that the school library receives commission on any orders placed through Scholastics book club?

We use this money to purchase resources to:

  • Update our collection

Book Club -A few things we need to let you know:

  3. We run one Book club a term.

MAG’s Reading Challenge

Moama Anglican Grammar’s Reading Challenge has been designed to encourage students to select books they may not usually read and use different characteristics of books to make their choice.

Students can collect the checklists from the library staff.

The categories students can use to find reading material until the next newsletter are:

  1. A book of short stories
  2. A book you can read in a day

As students read books from different categories, encourage them to come in to see a Library staff member to have it marked off.
