End of Term 2

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our families for your continued support throughout this term. Wow, what a term! The world as we knew it changed for all of us in a very short time. As an educator, it was certainly nothing I had experienced before and we all had to adapt quickly. Our dedicated staff were instrumental in developing a new way of delivering the curriculum and supporting your children. The support and positive feedback we received from families was reassuring and made our job much easier.

As we know, restrictions have started to ease and providing we all continue to do the right things, they will ease further in Term 3. At this stage, we are still expecting to have social distancing restrictions in place for adults next term.

We will continue with the Primary School morning drop off and afternoon pick up. In Term 3, please continue to adhere to road safety laws and be cautious around the student crossings and ensure the roundabout remains clear for traffic. We will continue to release the students from the classrooms at 3.00pm each day to ease the traffic congestion.

Due to restrictions still in place, a date for the Primary Athletics carnival has not been set yet. I am still assessing our options in line with other RAS schools and once we have decided on a date I will let everyone know.

The last day of Term 2 was a fun day for our students, with many of them coming in their favourite pyjamas. The K-6 leaders did a great job with organising the day and running a raffle to raise much-needed funds for The Pyjama Foundation.

The raffle was drawn at lunchtime and the students were very eager to find out if they had won!

The winners were:

First Prize (100 Chupa Chups) went to:

Thomas Farr-Jones

Second Prize (50 Chupa Chups) went to: Imogen Rickard

Third Prize (20 Chupa Chups) went to:

Chiara Galati

The total amount raised from the Pyjama Day and raffle was $1150.  Again, thank you to all of our students and families for supporting the foundation.

I wish everyone an enjoyable, safe and relaxing break and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday 14 July.

Mangia Mangia!

Year 4 enjoyed celebrating the end of term with an Italian feast! The focus for their learning in Term 2 has been related to food and they have produced some impressive work through a dramatisation of the story 'Mangia Mangia' and created their own menus for an Italian restaurant. On Thursday they were treated to an array of Italian delights including Prosciutto, Sopressa, Ricotta, Olives, Artichokes, Grissini and even Pane e Nutella for dessert! We had a lot of fun eating and watching ‘Jamie and the Nonna’s’ together.

Ciao!

Primary Piano Concerts

This week, our piano tutors worked together to coordinate class piano concerts for students in Years 1 – 4. Students who learn piano at MAG in these year levels, were invited to perform piano items for their classmates and teachers as a way to showcase their skills and celebrate their learning.

In total, 35 students across Years 1 - 4 performed, and they especially enjoyed performing in the Hall on the grand piano!

Due to limitations that have been in place this term, it was a wonderful opportunity to come together for these concerts; the experience was enjoyed by all and it was a great way to conclude the term.
