Amazing Food Tech Videos From Donnie's Kitchen!

The Food Tech support staff Sonja Allen and Ell Menta have been very busy during the remote isolation, creating and filming cooking lessons for school classes.

0ver 50 short film productions comprising over 20 recipes have been added to the ClickView digital library. They may not be George Lucas or Martin Scorsese, but these ladies have been churning the films out!

Their film-making skills are improving all the time, showcasing their fantastic food talents, which the staff and students have been enjoying.

The recipes cater for students from Year 7 to Year 12. They feature pastries, sausage rolls, pasta, spaghetti and cakes that will make your mouth water.

Whilst students are remote learning, the food tech teachers can engage with students using these cooking demonstrations on ClickView. The videos are also handy for student who have been absent and need to catch up on a class.

These film can be seen through the DSC ClickView digital library under the Food Tech folder.  So move over Nigella! Sonja Allen and Ell Menta are cooking up a storm.

Celebrating Student Work

Students across our College continue to shine during remote education, as recently seen in Mrs Sapardanis' Year 11 Chemistry class.

Students investigated nanoparticles and their various applications, including sunscreens, textiles, construction materials, non-renewable energy sources and medicine.

Video presentations

Ethan J and Faye M are just two of the talented students currently studying Year 11 Chemistry. They responded to the task by creating fantastic video presentations which you can see here:

Given the open-ended nature of the task in demonstrating their learning, the quality of the work submitted was exceptional. Their creativity, thinking and ability to collect and present current and relevant information in an objective manner exceeded all expectations.

Well done to all the Year 11 Chemistry students on their nanotechnology tasks. Even during these uncertain times, they continued to demonstrate our school values of responsibility and more importantly, resilience.

Another Milestone for New Year 7 Learning Centre!

Last Friday the second storey floor was poured for our new Year 7 Learning Centre, so things are really coming along!

Next week steel will be delivered for the roof, so once this happens, there will be no holding back construction due to unfavourable weather. As of last Friday, building was on schedule.

The new two-storey facility is due to be completed in Term 4 this year and will provide 10 general classrooms, two multi-use science rooms and a student toilet block.
