Library Borrowing

Borrowing continues to occur on Fridays for all students. Books may be returned on Thursdays if it is more convenient. Please remember to bring a bag to transport books to and from school.

Should students wish, borrowing may also be done on Wednesdays at lunch by seeing Mrs Galvin.

A reminder that there are still many books overdue from term 1.

Children's Book Council of Australia

Shortlisted books for these prestigious awards have recently been announced.  We are fortunate that many of these books are already in our library and I look forward to sharing some of these.

'The Glimme' by Emily Rodda

Another novel by one of Australia's leading authors; The Glimme sees the main character Finn being allowed to pursue his love of drawing in a world of fantasy.

Our stage 3 students are enjoying the story and especially like the amazing illustrations by leading artist Martin McBride.

Premier's Reading Challenge

Fantastic effort by five students who have already completed this years challenge! There are a number of students who are close to completing also.

The Challenge is well equipped to support student participation from home. The following adjustments have been applied to the Challenge in 2020:

  • Students on all Challenge levels are able to read 10 choice books - an increase from five. The codes needed to add these choice books are 685957; 685958; 685959; 685960 and 685961.
  • Students on all Challenge levels will be able to include books on their reading records that they read collaboratively as a class, in person or online with their teacher or at home with their parents/carers.

All students have  their login details for the Challenge. Primary students are able to upload their own data. Students in Kinder and Stage 1 are able to keep a log and I will enter these when they are returned to school.

Parents of infants (K -2) students who wish to input their child's books to the Challenge may do so and it will be appreciated.

The Reading Challenge concludes 28th August.
